EE FTP Not working....

All ftp tests pass fine. When I use the UPLOAD function after already uploading the pictures via ftp into the UPLOAD directory it goes on to the EE UPLOAD ENGINE page and starts the auto-refresh but then never gets any further. Remaining pictures in batch never decreases etc. There are no error messages displayed either....have tried both EE ftp and internal ftp to no avail.

Any ideas?
