Hi

As a new owner of an A80 I took it to New Year's Eve Party and when the photo's were viewed on PC I saw lots of faint white spots on some, but not all, of the shots taken.

Looking in the Canon User Guide there is mention of flash reflecting off dust particles and it says this is a phenonomen that occurs with digital cameras and is not a malfunction.....I've seen lots of flash photographs taken with Nikon compact digitals and no dots appear on them.....is this a Canon problem which they are loath to accept?

Has anyone found a way to overcome this other than re-touching in Photoshop etc.

Thanks
John

If I can I use an external flash gun triggered by a slave flash. This reduces the problem to negligable in a normal home - but I still see the problem in a dusty atmosphere where people are smoking especially, such as a party. Otherwise it's down to editing after the event I'm afraid. The rig I use also pretty much eliminated red-eye.
