Ian
Ok get to keep the hair :)
She wandered out in front of the truck. Just had time to snap shoot her.

It posts,. and she is beautifull! :)

She is looking at you like,.. well like a Deer caught in headlights :)

What is the deal wiht Pbase?
People have so much trouble imbedding images on that site,. that I had thought for months they Pbase just doesn't allow it. Is it a user setting?

Great image.

Kinda' makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?

Nice picture---really.

Hope it was worth freezing your Gitzo off to get it.

CDS,
No idea what the Pbase problem is. Seems like you have to screw around with the URL a lot. I have just started using them and am going to sit down tomorrow and dive into the settings and see if there is something that has escaped me.
Thanks for the compliment on the shot. I was getting real antsy to get a keeper with the new lens.

Tom,
Freezing my Gitzo has never bothered me much. Something my mother used to tell me " No brains, no feeling"
Haven't felt much in a long time:)

Here is the same deer not quite knowing which way to look. Funny looking dude is sneaking up behind her and it looks like he is carrying a 3 legged a**

Ian,
I see you fixed it, cool! What was the shot info, like camera, lens, shutter speed and f-stop? The camera and lens are the most interesting bits. I'm guessing a Canon EOS 10D, and L glass?

Hey, I think that is a left hand drive car, as opposed to the right hand drive cars we have in the UK. That answers a question I had yesterday, and so did your post. That pics reminds me of back home in the Northeast. We have lots of really big deer up there too. Have any of you (British not included) seen deer over here? They are what I call pigmy deer. They are about 1/2 the size of their American counterpart. I guess that would make sense. Afterall, this island including England, Scotland, and Wales is roughly the size of New York State. I know this much, it takes a hell of a lot longer to drive the same distance here than in the US. That usually wows British people here and gives them a sense of how vast the US is. This will no doubt be weird whenever I get back to the US, driving on the other side of the road. I just got an idea for a new topic, stay tuned...

Canuck,
Info as follows-
F4
1/750sec
ISO 800
Sigma 100-300 f4 EX at 263mm
Canon 10d
The car in the shot is a Nissan pickup driven by the chap who owns the land is was tramping around on.
It was getting late in the afternoon and I wanted to see what the lens would do wide open so I cranked up the ISO and opened it up.
I have only taken a few shots with this lens and the 70-200 f2.8 I picked up this week as the weather has not been nice here in Montreal. I still have a few days left on Christmas holidays and I'm going out every day to try and capture a few more shots.
If I have not done so before, Happy New Year!

Ah! I figured out how to embed the image.

copy the url info from the help page and then change the info to the pbase image number and add the .jpg extenision just after the image number

Sigma 50-500 handheld at about 150 ft just before dusk.

Eric,
On foot sneaking up along the side of the road. I wont say the deer are tame up on the mountain, but there is no hunting up there so they are a little more relaxed around people. This spot is Rigaud Mt just 15 minutes from Montreal. Was just out on a drive when I saw her and her fawns cutting through a fiels ahead of me. No time to get the tripod setup.
Ya know, if propped up just right, roadkills can pass as sleeping if the shot is not too close. :)
