A shot taken in August when a Northern ( Yellow Shafted) Flicker landed on a bird bath in my yard for a drink. Canon 400 F5.6 on a 30D Note: 2 more images added on page 2

That's a great shot, Gary. Very "up close and personal"! I don't get to see the front of these and other similar birds too often since they're usually always clinging to sides of trees. :)

Amazing portrait shot . The level of detail in the feathers is incredible. I also like the reflection in the eye.

Colour, clarity and composition is excellent.
Alas, the capture leaves a bit to be desired...I MEAN THE BIRD TURNING ITS HEAD AWAY. Did you run out of film or something so you could not shoot any more frames ? (he he)

Some fine Flicker shots Gary. I have them in my yard all the time but never had one come to my bird bath. What do you add to your bird bath water maybe some of your fine Canadian malt beverage.:)
