I just send a payment for this thing. $1,450 for a mint backup UV 85L off DWF.

I can't wait. 35L + 85L = dream team?

That must've been a pretty bad bump! My 5D picked up a few new battle scars on the rocks today too. It's so pretty :D.

Perry USPS express the 35L on Monday to NJ and got it back yesterday Wednesday cleaned and calibrated . Thats incredible.

Sigh, ever since my girlfriend told me "I don't like the pale skin tone, they look dead" I've been using that apricot color. I'm not sure what else to do.

Here, here's a less red version:

Slight warming in PP does great things to skin tones when their lifeless (I've had this happen a lot). I like that color you've used though. From what I can see of the skin tones in the non filtered one, they look absolutely fine.

Thanks man, I can't wait to play with f/1.2.

Have a great time! This lens is meant to push it all the way! It takes some practice, get used to keeping your eye glued to the viewfinder (or manual focus in Live View or the viewfinder) but the payoff is there. Patience, take several shots of a given scene, and you'll see the "special" payoff.

The 85L II is definitely not weather sealed, UV filter or not.

Most obvious sign is that it lacks the seal on the mount:

Australian Embassy, Tokyo on Australian Day.
All with 85L. Taken while in line for sushi.
On this day I went to Tokyo with just one lens, forcing me to use it and get better with it.

I know very few people who use this lens for landscape but it actually is very capable for that task too!

Taken earlier this evening.

well look at the shadows on her clothes and face. the cast shadow is out of range. it would cast towards us, to the right.

Open shade at 4:00 in the afternoon. You've gotta get out of the studio/catwalk more often. :)

That's a great exposure for the shade with no flash Geno. I know f/3.5, but ISO 100 says to be it got some nice diffuse light in there!

Don't know how to draw this:

We're on the North Side of the building so the sun is on the other side of the building, probably about the three o'clock position. There's another building behind us that might even be reflecting the sun back a little. I took some location photos, let me see if I have one of that area.

(rummage, rummage... AHA!)

This is the wall at 6:00 PM ish the week before.

So yeah... the 85L is freakin' sweet. I got mine yesterday. Took a few shots... the DOF is amazing as well as the bokeh it creates. However, the CA can be out of control if you're not careful.
