Poped in to this spot the other day. The photos need a person to give you an idea of how high the cliff are

Tony, please buy yourself a level, One of my pet hates are/is a great shot detracted by a tilted horizon (Pic #1)
Shot #3 looks interesting, did you take any from 10m further left? might have been more leading-into-the-picture if the stream had started from the left-hand corner rather than the middle.

Just my 10c worth...

its my screen;-)- on the left there are a few and they are in all the shots, the two above have a spot in the 'left off centre area' centre. 5d sensors are as they say then eh? hazardous to dust.

The first thing I do is use the rule in CS2 to check the angle of the horizon. I did that to to pic one and it made the hills way off. Try it and you will see what I mean.

I didnt take a lot as I didnt want to run out or space on my CF card. Its an hour from my place so I will go out again soon.

Very nice series, with the last being my favorite. Love those diagonal elements.

I like them Tony, minus the dust spot on the first, and the dust/pet hair on the second -- all easily fixed with the cloning tool.

Hot shoe bubble level $45 (at AC) - me thinks I forgot to purchase that yesterday!

Any excuse to get me into Auckland Camera
I took a total of 5 pictues the whole time I was there and I posted 3. I guess a lot of the time I am trying to show a vast area, maybe Im trying to show to uch in 1 photo.

Tony, that looks like a great spot!

1) The horizon is really bad! Overall I find it uninteresting, but can't work out why. All the lines lead to the middle, maybe that's it?

2) I like that shot a lot. but find the stream running along the bottom of the fram distracting. I want to look at the cliffs clouds and sky, but my eye is drawn to the stream. Nice use of rule of thirds there!

3) I love the forground interest in this shot, but as Duncan suggested, if you moved a bit to the left so the leading line started closer to the corner, and the valley was on the magical rule of thirds line, you probably would have been able to keep the ridges in the forground while getting the better aspects of duncans crop.

Because of the strong lead in lines, the last one works best for me, a delight.

I see your point, but I would rather have a straight horizon. Can you straighten it in photoshop?
