This is one of several derelict homes, a legacy of the the 'Highland Clearances' at Torbeg, near Ballater in the North East of Scotland.
The colour version looked OK but the shot was begging for a monochrome conversion!

FANTASTIC! and the decision to go B/W seems to work well.
you got me with this one. Remote, destitute and impoverished snaps to mind instantly.
may i ask which lens you used for the image?
Thanks ;)

thanks Bach, i took a rough guess and was'nt far off...
I just picked up a used (you wouldn't think so) 70-200 4L last night for an absolute steal! Not that the seller will miss it too much as he proudly displays his 1DS and inventory of fine top end glass worthy of much jealousy...
So today i will be at play with the newest toy... not that i'm excited or anything
I'll be watching your threads for more of the above images, inspiring for the wet behind the ears types...

Enjoy your new lens buddy...I just picked that lens up only last weekend. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine!
Interesting and thought provoking, nice job.
Thank you :) The scene had a 'Wuthering Heights' feel to it. I should maybe revisit when the weather is more forboding.

The lighting made monochrome an obvious choice!
Funny!

Thanks buddy :) That kind of sky is a rare scene in Scotland. I just had to stop and make the most of it!
