Hi all,
Just last month on a job assignment in Hawaii, my room got broken into and lost my D30 and all my lens! Now I'm back in Japan and the D60 is gonna hit the stores in a couple of weeks. Should I buy now or should I wait a while? Do anyone remember when the D30 first came out? Did the price drop a few month later or was there any problems with the first shipment? I make web pages so Digital SLRs works alot better for me. I dred the thought of Scanning all my shots for more than a few month.

Thanks,
Koji

Buy the D60. I really don't see Canon dropping the opening price very much the first 3-4 months. At least not until the late summer market slow down. Also, it depends on how well the Nikon, Fujii and Sigma SLR digitals do. If they can't compete with Canon then you won't see a price drop. On the other hand if they are able to then you will see calculated price drops on the Canon. If you really dread film scanning (I do) then buy it right away. You are probably only looking at saving a few hundred $ between now and late summer. How much is your time worth? And look at all the fun you are missing.

For sure get the D60. Just look at the specs. The extra amount will be worth it. The D30 has been discontinued. Faster focus with 2 stops lower light ability. Lazer focus screen.(brighter) And many other new improvements. Not to mention file size.
