IMHO, it seems that many(not all!) posters of questions on this board(G2), post their question and are never to be heard from again. That is, until their next question. It would be nice to know if the original posters thought that the answers people posted were useful, worthless, etc. Exchange of information is a two way street.

I agree. Sometimes I give information, that I'm not totally sure is accurate. If it's found inaccurate, I'd like to know, so I don't continue on with my misinformation of the masses... not that anyone listens when I speak anyway, but you know what I'm saying :D

I guess that's how the internet communication works: faceless, no hellos, no goodbyes ;)

I agree Scott, a reply of some kind would be nice.

I always figure that when it comes to anonymous internet forums, if they don't come back, the information they received was sufficient (or else they'd probably have asked a follow-up).

It would be cool to have a rating system, like the reviewer rating on Amazon...somthing like "Scott Dommin is a 5 star" and "those dumb people that pradeep mentioned are .5 stars"

Based on how people rate if a reply was helpful or not, different users could be rated.

I'm with you 100% Scott, It's very frustrating to me to post an answer to a question than never find out if the asker ever read it. Just a little thanks all for your comments (help) would be nice.

I'll make it easy for all those to lazy to type just do a cut and paste

"Thanks for the Help"

"Thanks for the comments"

Yes, this is the anonymous internet. Notice how many people don't even use a real name anywhere in their posting or profiles. But we do it for the fun of it, and if nothing else, for us to put our opinions out in the public space and be corrected by someone or someones who are more knowledgeable. I write and contribute on this board for the learning aspect more so than for the teaching aspect.

When I spend the time composing an accurate, understandable, detailed response to a posters question, it's not fun when the original poster takes that response for granted and disappears until their next question. One of my favorite things about these forums is the ability to communicate with people all over the world. Anonymity is no excuse for bad behavior. If you check the other forums (EOS Digital, Printing, Talk About Photography), people have better manners.

Maybe us G users have no class
Just kidding Scott  It's indeed very annoying because the novices like myself follow the suggestions of you expierenced users and when there's no follow up I'm lost again.

I started out in digital with a 2mp Kodak DC280. I then moved to a G2, which I used for two years and still carry as my walk around camera, and now use a 10D as my main digital camera. So, I too am a G2 user.

I agree Scott, a reply of some kind would be nice.

Ummm, I may be guilty of this but it is not intentional. Several people have been kind enough to respond to me (Phil1, 4 walls and a couple of other people). On a few occasions I responded but on a few others I have not. Part of my problem is very limited computer time. I'm running late now with too many other things I need to do. Also, as far as input and/or suggestions go, hey, I am a rank amaetur (sp?) in photogrophy - digital or otherwise - and you definitely don't want me trying to make suggestions. I've only had this G3 since mid-November. Don't know anything about it and/or related software. HOWEVER, I sincerely appreciate each of you taking the time to answer/respond to my questions/toughts. I may not be able to say thank you each time but I most definitely do thank you every time, whether yoi see it or not. Anyway, thanks to each of you.

I don't think most are committing any great social faux pas here. It's a part of the give and take of the universe at this level... But a compliment or expression of appreciation never hurts anyone's feelings. (To be technical about it: etiquette also indicates it's bad manners to point out another's bad manners.)

BTW, I don't post here often. More of a lurker. Can usually find just about anything with a search. And I am always grateful for the archived info...so to ALL who've posted in the past, a sincere THANKS for all the information and experiences you've shared. Happy New Year!

I disappear pretty often because I have some other things to do, but I try not to leave some question or answer of mine hanging. If I can't avoid it, someone will always spring in with better questions and answers than mine, and I'm grateful for that because when I come back to the threads (if I can remember them or even find them) I learn something new. The only thing that annoys me in forums is people who barge in like this was paid support for every imaginable product and we should drop everything and grovel to their assistance. I do understand their frustration though, 'cause I've gone through enough myself to be able to come up with an answer here and there.

Twisted my knee last week and being stuck to the spot I took my mind off it by having a lot of fun here and at FM. Now I've gotta spend some time at Money Management rather than Color Management if I want to upgrade my 330Ci to a M3CSL any time soon!

When I originally posted this b*tch, there was a page full of posted questions, each with one or two answers and no replies. Looking back at that page, wouldn't you know it that none of the guilty responded to this post. They say consistency is a good character trait. Who knew?
My thanks to those of you that took the time to respond.

That's right. Those helped should bow, scrape, and be properly grateful little paeans, laboriously fawning over me as a reward for my oh-so-precious time, magnanimously doled out to help solve their little problems.

Pardon me while I go adjust my crown...

John,

At least you were able to see through the window beautiful snow fall over the Alps. Hope your knee is OK now.

Gee. And I thought what my parents taught me were good manners. Sorry you were unable to bait me with your sarcastic hyperbole. Nice try

...just under the overcasting clouds around dawn, grey scale par excellence.

Ever loose your balance just pulling on your socks and tear a ligament? Embarrassing. Had planned going back to La Reunion in Feb/Mar to shoot some more of the vulcanos and jungle. Might have to postpone. Oh well, can always hang out here and pester people.

Well it's nice to see those managing this place are still alive, but I think that combining all G-Series cameras into one forum was a no-no. Yeah, they're similar, but I think their differences are enough for us to NEED seperated forums..

I love my G3. :)

John,
1.Try to stay off it as much as possible. Stay on the forum and off your feet.
2. Keep it elevated when you can.
3. Ace wrap or knee immobilizer (check with orthopod).
4. Ice it after you've been walking around.
5. Asprin,Tylenol, or Motrin for pain.
6. MRI if symptoms don't improve.
7. Make sure you see an Orthopedist if you haven't already.
No Charge,
Scott

Thank you Dr. Scott! I went to Dr. Kipfer, also a photomaniac and orthopedic surgeon, yesterday. Old miniscus damage plus new tendon tear. Wrapping it up with a patch for two weeks and if it's not better he gets to play with his micro toys. He is fanastic! Fixed my shoulder and thumb 'bout a year ago. Only trouble is we spend half the time talking and joking in the OP. We get so in stitches that the OP girls start dropping trays, he can't hold the knife steady, other docs come in to see what the hell is the uproar and join in too. Laughter is the best healer!

I agree, its quite dissapointing not having any feedbacks of sort with your replies. But please keep it coming the replies I mean. I've learned a lot just by reading others questions and most of all your replies. If it Coming, THANKS A LOT!

I would just like to say thankyou for all I have got from this forum. I have learned a lot (well some of it is slowly sinking in). I brought a G3 about four months ago and Im having a lot of fun learning.
Its good that others are willing to take the time to pass on their knowlage---

Knowledge?

No knowledge here.

Just a lot of tripping over things in the dark and telling the next guy where they are so he won't (hopefully) break his neck!
