Hi all
This is not really about the better sigmas-i'm guessing that they are very good straight from the camera

With regards to the cheaper sigma lenses-i'v been noticing for awhile now that they seem to have a blue (or cool) colour cast. The one i have here right now (100-300 DL) is so strong that i can immediately notice it in the viewfinder!
Has anyone else noticed any particular sigma traits, not just colour casts?
I notice that sigmas tend to respond quite well to USM -more so than (especially) the cheap manufacturers kit lenses

I am fairly new to Digital Cams but are you sure it is not the camera? I bring this up as I have the DRebel does cast this blue halo and have noticed this myself. However in my case it only would happen on bright light sources that are over exposed.

Err.. I withdraw my comment. I suppose this is a lens problem. I knew that the DRebel had an issue with this but it is actually the lens itself per this review.

Hehe... as I said I am new to this.

ultraweaver & ron chappel,

Are either of you using a filter on your lens???

I use no filters on any of my lenses-the (rather good example) ef75-300 i have comes out with enough colour saturation, contrast ,neutral colours and even sharpness to need no correction at all for printing.

The sigma can be corrected alot to be *allmost* as good as the canon(except for sharpness) .I'm not complaing about the sigma,i can get very good shots out of it.
Just curious what other sigmas are like as canon tend to have great colour and contrast but one thing i allways notice about sigma pics online (even from the best sigma lenses) is the very 'clean' look they have-low contrast, colour, and in the case of cheap zooms,a certain softness

I don't have an answer,. but it's funny as many complain the Sigma lenses are "too warm" and that Canon "L" is "cooler" than a "warm" Sigma... ???
