You should be OK. Worse I can see happening is that you need a transformer, that converts different types of electricity. I don't imagine you would need to sell things, only to have to replace them. Transformers are realtivly cheap, and get the job done, should you need to go that far.
Enjoy the move...and good luck in the near future.

Thanks - what I wondered was whether Apple perhaps already proide convertor packs or whether there's an adjustment that can be made in computer hardware?

Might want to check the Apple website. All I think is that you might need a universal power plug adapter kit. In the US, it's 39 bucks.

You can use suff from the UK anywhere in Europe as it's still 220-240v 50Hz, France uses the same power supply as us they just use a different plug :) you'll need a cable with a two pin circular plug used in continental Europe, or a travel plug adapter :)
I'm sure Apple can sell you what you need :)
I dunno if Macs use kettle leads like PCs but you can pick them up for a couple quid, something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/European-Power-Lead-Kettle-Lead-Cable_W0QQitemZ180034354705QQihZ008QQcategoryZ4534 2QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for that I see that AppleMac G5s are autoswitching for different power sources

- cool
What about the Epson printer then?
I was going to get the 4800 and take it with me later....anyone have links for power change specs for that?

Simon if you're moving to France from the UK the voltage and frequency are the same so you can use any electrical item from the UK with no problems, all you need is a different plug :)

I used my Dell lappy for a whole week in France this year without problem, you just require an adaptor (check out boots or Adsa;))
