Pulled 1225 out for the first time since last winter (she has been undergoing boiler work). It is coming back together, and we will be running next month.

Here are just a couple of the pics:

Pulling the 400-ton 101ft. long locomotive out of the shop, onto the turntable.

Co-worker steam cleaning all the grease from last year off the locomotive. When he was done, it was finally shiny again. Notice the drivers are taller than he is.

Whiting trackmobile. they were designe for use in places that a normal switch engine would get stuck (inside factories with tracks inside, etc).

The wheels can lower down, and it can be driven around like a normal vehicle.

It also has a hydralic lift on the couple to transfer the weight of whatever it is towing onto its own drive wheels (thus how it can pull a 400-ton locomotive)

And I did not take this one (I was on the train crew), but this was shot during our fall color tour (notice Barney, our engineer who always wears a pink hat):

These do make a nice series. I especially like the third one - huge machine against a man. The yellow of his slicker, and the little spashes of red, are beautiful against the black engine.
