is there a way to get more clear shots in dim light with it?

Raise the ISO, BUT it will get noisey.

Use the flash

it all depends on what kind of "effect" do you want to achieve... If you are looking for natural coloring under poor light conditions, you'll have to use slower shutter speeds (tripod required)... This will allow the camera to take in a greater amount of light, so the picture is bright. The nice thing about this, is that all the subject, and the background, is equally "brighten"; using the flash won't achieve this, because the flash range is about 5-6 meters, so the background will be darker....

it's all about playing around with the settings :)

don't expect to get great results with it...point and shoots are terrible in low light..

Raising ISO over 100 is not a good option for a clear picture. In the creative zone of the dial, set apparture to high (+) position to 2. If possible use tripod, set IS off, give suitable low shutter speed. If your enviornment is dark and the object is reasonably distant, the camera will not focus, so be in the position of widest zoom.
