I'd like some opinions from those of you who have used the above applications to reduce noise. I'm interested in ease of use, interface, quality of effect, support, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

I never tried Noise Ninja but I tried Neatimage.

I liked it so much I bought it. You have a lot of control with Neatimage. Here's a review of it from a respectable source (it is a couple of versions newer than this review, current version is 3.0). I have the "Pro+" version. Try it and decide for yourself.

Oh, one more thing...the review states that Neatimage is a "stand alone program" and that it would be "nice if it they made it a Photoshop plugin". The new version has both....a stand alone program AND a PS plugin, very nice.

I haven't tried Noise Ninja but I will have to give it a shot. Neat Image works very well. Even the Demo is great however, I found it to be very slow.

Mike,
Thanks for the links. I found this link at Luminous-landscape: http://www.michaelalmond.com/Articles/noise10.htm

Bought Ninja a week ago.
Its very easy to use, takes ca 20secs to process a 10D image (16bit TIFF) and removes ca 95% of noise from an ISO 1600 image without damaging the image.
It makes taking low light hand held shots a reality when flash would have been too invasive.

Triggered by your question I tested both demo versions of NeatImage and NoiseNinja.
Both are very good but I would give the edge to NoiseNinja.
It is indeed much faster, more simple to use and less intrusive (leaves more detail in place).
Both demo versions discard the ICC embedded profiles from TIFFs (I might be wrong...) so I was puzzled when first analized results in PS Elements who has a pretty dummy color management control...
I also use C1 Rebel and I am very happy with the noise reduction it provides, except maybe in the extreme situations.
Alright, enough for my first posting, I hope I didn't say too many stupid things!

Thanks for your efforts. I really appreciate it. It seems that Noise Ninja has replaced Neat Image as the best noise reduction program.

...another satisfied Noise Ninja customer here too. I *LOVE* it, especially the touch-up tools on the extremely rare occasion that any image data is changed besides the noise. The preview/panning, camera profiles, and control are all top-notch and extremely easy to learn and use.
