Now that 10 D has been on the street for sometime, do people still find focusing problems , mentioned in this forum many many tomes in the past.
The problem seemed to have faded away.
Your opinion?

It wasn't actually a problem, just a clever ploy by the ruler industry to boost sales.

Then: Minor issue with a very, VERY few cameras that got blown WAAAAAAAAY out of proportion on the forums. The world had never seen so many photographs of rulers before. People then started reporting focus problems with 1D's, D30's and D60's.

I think there were some reports of focus problems on 5 year old film cameras! Okay, maybe that was pushing it a bit but you get the point...

Now: If there are focus problems it's a bad mate between camera and lens or simply user error and/or lack of experince with the camera or photography in general, aka; bad mate between camera and photographer.

Obviously the "focus" problem still exists, but now in the background. The following is a copy of a recent post in the Canon EOS-D(igital) segment of this forum. I just copied a small part of the thread and haven't included the senders name.

"I have talked with several Ritz sales people in the St petersburg, Florida area and they all have claimed to have heard it from their "Canon Rep" that the 10d was discontinued "because of some focusing problems" They didn't try to sell me anything else just imparted this tidbit of "knowledge.""

Now were told the 10D is being discontinued "because of some focusing problems"

I have a theory that people may be divided more or less into two camps. In one camp there are individuals that get a new piece of equipment and when it doesn't give them the results they expected they decide THEY are doiing something wrong and try and figure out what it is. Then there is the second group which when the same thing happens believe THE EQUIPMENT is doing something wrong and the manufacturer is to blame.

What everyone DOES need to do is ignore ingnorant Ritz employees.

The opinion then is
Canon 10D is doing well, and focussing problems reported in earlier batches, are probably looked after.

I can tell you this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Ritz stopped carrying the 10D many months ago... many many many months before it will be discontinued.. (it still has not been ...)

Ritz regional sales informed there sales team that the reason Ritz is no longer carrying the 10D is because it is discontinued...
This was a lie.. and still is..

So,...Why DID Ritz stopped carrying the 10D?

Maybe because of the so called "focus issue"?

I doubt it...

... but more likely because there is a larger profit margin on DRebels and D70s...

or becasue as the 10D was the fastest selling DSLR in history for many many months.. Ritz could never keep them in stock to sell in the first place.

Ritz DEFINATELY has a "push Nikon" spiff program going on... where as they do not for Canon.

1. The Ritz salesmen tell you they are discontiued as an excuse for Ritz not to be carrying them.
2. The focus issue is brought up so that you will not further look for the 10D elesewhwere since Ritz won't sell you one...

It is all misinformation to steer you towards buying what Ritz has in the store.

CDS,
regarding the push Nikon, I can speak to this...
I ordered the 10D thru Ritz and I called them several times to see about when I might expect to see it. They were definitely pushing Nikon and each time I said that I had several Canon lenses. I got what I now call the "BT OH!"

Whooo-hooo...900 posts!

It is really the question of profit margin that drives the Ritz Camera to push Nikon.
Corporate greed
