Not that I ever thought it was easy, but having shot my first pro level sports event, I have a new respect for you guys here that produce the amazing shots that you do. These guys are fast and so is the action. Here is one shot from the match, more will follow as I get time to PP the rest. Shot with a 20D and 300 f2.8L. I had to shoot at ISO1600 as it was a night game. My client wanted shots of Clint Dempsey(#2 in white) so knowing that is it OK to have cut off the other guy's leg????

I'm not a practiced sports photographer, but I grew up with the "other guy" in this shot -- so of course I'm going to say no, you have to have him in the frame!
Objectively speaking, if the player in white is your focus, I'd think you'd want shots that show him in control of the action. Either that or something that would indicate he's about to make a play. From this shot it looks as though he might be about to watch the ball go past him.
Exposure and focus look great. I'd love to have been there.

You are, of course, correct. And I have other shots that are better in that regard that I will post soon.....
Thanks for your comments.....
