I see a lot of praise for Simga EX series lenses, but I haven't seen much in the way of opinions about Tokina or Tamron. Any input would be greatly appreciated, as I'm weighing all possible options for a few new lenses.
Thanks in advance.

ive got a tamron 28-200 xr in the bag, i was in a bit of a pinch and needed the lens, and it was at a pretty good price.
when shooting with my 10d i see that there is a lot of noise. esp. at the longer focal length.
but, for the money, its definatly a good lens to learn on.

I have a couple of Tamron lense and they're the low end zooms. They are ok with film, not impressed with them on the digital side. I here Tokina is a good brand but not too many on the shevles here in Vegas. Look @ this link it may help.

8) I have the Tamron 90 sp macro this is an excellent lens that produces very sharp images. I found this to be a great lens for portraits.

I've had a Tamron 28-200 3.8-5-6 XR.
No problem. Sharp pictures, low noise, great bokah I recommend it without reservsation. Dollar for dollar beats more expensive lenses. I'm a hobbyist. Does MORE than anything I need.

I have both (See my signature). The Tamron 28-200mm ($250) stinks (Fine for film), I like the Tamron 19-35mm ($165) and I like the Tokina 80-400mm ($450) although Tokina lenses tend to be heavy. The Tamron XR DI lenses that are coming out are getting good reviews so they might be worth a look.
