I've learned more from reading these forums than anywhere else. A lot of contributors to this forum provide links to their photos so you can see what's possible with a little patience and practice, and there are often links to other pages that give technique advice.
Keep visiting this site and you'll do all right.

You need to know the basic and then the forum will make sense.
Go to Barnes & Nobel and get a book on the fundementals of Digital.
The reason you need this it will give you and Idea of what AV does and Tv does. When you learn this it will help you get creative.
Example sports & fast moving you need shutter speed so you would use the TV mode.
It will help you understand how light effects the sensor.
The book will help you understand that,.

This is a good resource:

The author (Dennis Curtin) has a specific book on the G3/G5. Do a search on G3 and you should find it. I have the book and it is useful.
http://www.photo.net/learn is also a very useful resource.

Three great books for understanding Photography:
1. The Confused Photographers Guide to Photographic Exposure and the Simplified Zone System by Bahman Farzad
2. The Kodak Workshop Series: Existing Light Photography
3. Mastering Flash Photography by Susan McCartney
I've read all three more then once.

I just recently bought a G3 (Christmas Present To Myself), and I just ordered the G3 Short Course book, I can't wait to get it to learn some things about my camera. I also have to say that this forum is a BIG help. I already learned a few things like programming C1 and C2 for instant settings for particular events like sports and general shooting indoors. I look forward to viewing this site everyday to learn new things.

Yo,
Wow, thanks, I bookmarked all the noted websites and I am going to see if a bookstore has the Farzad book before I order it.
For now I picked up a (don't kill me) "Digital Photography for Dummies" guide. Oh how my boyfriend laughed at me! His mother is a semi-pro-ish film photographer so he said I could borrow some of her books on composition and such.
Thanks for the suggestions!

I've compiled some useful links here. A lot are specific to the G3, but it would be exactly the same for the G5.
