View Full Version : Hey, am I the only Swedish member or something?

I was looking through the Members Activity section and it hit me how many Aussie and Kiwi threads there are. Interspersed between them are now a bunch of threads for various meets in America. I've also found the occasional England and Scottish threads.
So, am I the only Swede here or what??? I know Nekkid was around for a while as well as andrew(?) and Petra. Haven't seen much of either in a while though.
Other Scandinavians are Pekka (of course), Olli and Tommy that I know of.
Who else is Scandinavian here? Any more Swedes?
I'm starting to feel left out when seeing how many are from America, Australia, New Zealand and England!

There is a rumor circulating on the "ESP Forum" that Condyk was conceived on the assembly line of the SAAB Gas Turbine Propulsion Works. No further details were given such as if the line was moving at the time, or a lunch shutdown created a quieter opportunity. Either way, if true, that would almost entitle him to apply for a swedish citizenship. However, it is not clear what good that would do, if anything at all.

She's not much on POTN. I have her on my MSN but haven't really chatted with her lately. She's more into FM, Camel and Bröllopsfotografer.se . She's really gotten into the whole wedding photography thing. :)

According to the Swedish Urban Dictionary:
1. hejsan
hai! How are you? May i sleep with your sister?
I think there must be another definition that they aren't showing.

Well the rumour has some validity but some of the details have never been proven conclusively. My mother used to deliver smörgåsbord to the Saab and Volvo assembly line workers, both car divisions rather than the gas turbine works you mention. Of course, lunchtime in those days meant downing tools so there were many snug rear seats to retire to ... and rest. Anyway, this one particular day my mother took her bi-cycle on her rounds and, for some reason or other, this made her a little crazy such that workers of both rival brands had opportunity to journey along the conveyor belt of love. Anyway, that's the truth of the story and, like my mother, I have had both Saab and Volvo. I recommend both tho' prefered my various Saab's. I'm not sure which brand she enjoyed the most.

Thanks for an entertaining story. I needed it. Getting stressed at work. :(
My parents owned mainly Volvos as dad worked with them. We now got a BMW.
Hm, I've never had a Saab, but I've had a Volvo...

Getting stressed at work ? In Sweden ?
(Editorial comment: the semiotic unit "work" can obviously be used only conditionally in any Swedish context.)

I understand......in Sweden, that symptom usually comes from exposure to "work".;)

:p I'm gonna blame you for making me miss my train stop. Last time I looked out the window I was 3 stops from my stop. Suddenly I'm 3 stops past it. NOT my afternoon...
Oh, Petkal, wanna proof & edit 30 travel guides, edit 20 event highlights, insert 30 events before the next batch arrives, proof 73 old guides, edit the guides my colleagues have read & commented on, commission new Q1 events for 200+ guides, find journalists to write Mumbai & Fiji guides & sent stuff for translation? ;)

But that's all because for the last month you've been watching pop video's on your work computer, chatting and flirting with work mates most of the day and drinking the boss' stash of Cider :p
Anyway, pay for me to go to Mumbai and/or Fiji and I'll cover them for you free.

trailstar, don't think I've seen you around before. Hello. :) I was in Oslo last winter. Brrr. The damn coldest place I've EVER been to. My bones froze. My head ached and my wallet became lighter and lighter. Had the most expensive pizza ever in Oslo. :p

It says Finland, because I’m a Finn and I live in Finland. Åbo / Turku is very close to Stockholm, less than an hour by plane ;) And when it comes to the language Swedish, we’ve got the same thing going on here as they do in Canada (English / French), only here it is Finnish and Swedish :)

Being Finnish, you should understand Estonian, in which case I'll say "Tere". I used to live and work in the Baltic states mostly during the 1990s although I have been through a few times during the 2000s.

That’s true. Finnish and Estonian share a lot of words :)
