I have a bunch of photos that I took when they are viewed at normal size they look fine, however if you zoom in to about 100% or print out to a larger size (10 x 8 ) the picture looks grainy.
Is there any way to get around this at all??

Nope, you can't create information that isn't there.

It sounds as if you have either a P&S camera and/or are dealing with high iso/noisey images. P&S cameras often have poor iso400 image quality.

Can I ask what you mean viewed at normal size?
Using Noise Ninja may reduce the noise in your image but it may give a softening effect to your overall image although with practice you can get a nice reduction of noise with no major affects on your IQ.

I don't have a P&S, its a canon 350D, some were even done on the tripod and still come out like this, I try not to use an ISO higher than 800 because of the noise. I have managed to get somewhere with Neat Image noise reduction.
JD - i mean when viewed so you can see the whole photo, around 25 - 30%, its only when i zoom in to 100% that some of the pics are grainy. Not sure what im doing wrong.

Why not post some examples? A picture is worth a thousand words, and all that...

Be aware that images when viewed at odd percentages will not look as sharp as those at numbers that can be divided easily into 100. So 50%, 25%, 12.5% should all look pretty sharp.
the closer in you zoom the more the noise will show up - as will the bigger you print . Try noise reduction software to help reduce the noise.
