as the title says, and do you try to incorporate photography in to that hobby some how?
my other hobbies are:
Poker, i love playing and after 7 years i feel im preatty good, i play every sunday round a mates house and 2-3 nights a week online.
Tinkering with cars, i want a full race/drag project (amature level) but lack of funds and space make it a bit hard, but hopefully soon, i try to take pics of everything i do, with the idea of making a how to, i mainly do electrics and have made a 143db car.
Going to motor racing events, and i take pics at that.
Making pointless electric projects with LED's mainly, just cos im bored normally. i keep telling my self im going ot make a macro flash/light thingy for round my lens, ive got the super super bright white LED's but i alwys find something else to do with them.
Watch films, i love films between me and my G.F we have about 600 DVD's and we go to the cinema about 2-4 times a week.
so thats me how about you?

My other hobby is painting watercolors, which is somewhat related to photography in that it is another art form. Unfortunately, although I love doing both, I have no natural talent in either one.:)

Johan, I looked at this subject and wondered how many would say the same. I love making furniture on a cold winters day. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

Hiking - goes well with photography.
Writing - goes somewhat well, as I tend to write articles about photography.
Music - collecting and playing.
Ren Faires/Festivals - this goes really well with photography.

It is funny that you collect knives and flashlights. On a forum I used to post on for another hobby I have riddened (is that a word) (headphone/audio stuff), a lot of people also collected knives and flash lights. One guy came to a meet with atleast like 30-40 knives. I thought it was a little weird consdiering this guy was the type of guy you'de never expect to collect knives, but I shrugged it off.

At one point I was into firearms and cars, but not so much these days. I'm getting back into weight training, watching football (have been robbed of several seasons due to deployments), and reading (just started Bob Woodward's State of Denial). But mostly it's photography and robbing random people on the street for money.

I've gone through various phases.. at one point I collected french impressionists prints.. and had wallpapered my living room in Monet's.... (my roomate didn't get the blurry painting look).. I love books and poetry. Music. and am pretty proud of my record collection.. and by records I mean those big round, black things.. I did teach myself to read tarot cards and palms in highschool and though I haven't done it in years I do have some pretty interesting decks.. Books. I love books. especially the old poetry volumes that I find in dark used stores at the top of shelves.. Photography is my only expensive hobby which makes it easier to spend money on it..

Sari, I thought I was the only person with a huge collection of vinyl records. Of course, mine are fairly ancient.:) Reading can be a fairly expensive hobby, too, if you can't stay out of bookstores. Never have been able to walk past one.

I know what you mean.. I actually had a budget until a few years ago.. I wasn't allowed more than fifty dollars a month on books.. I don't buy one or two but pick out everything that I want.. But, my clothes come from walmart and my music is all used (cause I don't like the new stuff anyway).. so, I always used that as an excuse..

My hobbies, in no particular order:
Photography.

Taking seminars on photography.
Bored yet?
Working out in the gym.
Did I say going to the gym?
Used to play drums and vibes; then realized I sucked and gave them up.
Photography.

I like to collect toy trains (Lionel ring a bell). Some day I will have a room of my own to set them up, without anyone being able to touch them...but me...heheheheh.
I like watching planes land and take off, whenever I can. Usually best time is while I myself am inside the airport, and can see them taking off/landing. I swear, I could do that all day...if someone paid me.
I like music...and recently acquired an awesome home theatre system which is more expensive than my photography hobby...unfortunately. Though, the sound quality is DEFINATELY worth the price tag.
I like driving to unknown places -- I have driven by myself from NY to New Orleans, Newport RI, Boston, Orlando, Chicago, Buffalo, Toronto, Montreal, Myrtle Beach SC, Ocean City MD, Ohio, Maine, Vermont, and DC/Virginia, to name a few. Travel is a great thing...and driving (vs. flying) is also great. Gotta love the great open road. To bad it's no autobahn, here in the US at least.
I like growing flowers/taking care of flowers. I seem to have a natural green thumb.
Lots of other things to list. I get bored fairly easily...so, whatever I can do, to keep myself occupied, that's what I like to do.

Hobbies are for people who have time. I wish I had some. Maybe when my boys are big and I don't have a house to clean. :) I am stuck on the photography stuff, but I can sew, knit, paint, sing, play instruments, and other fun things, but I don't really have time. I just sewed 3/4 of my son's Harry Potter robe for Halloween. I would love to learn more about programs and software and to design a gallery or website in the coming year. I love anything electronic.

We share a couple of the same hobbies. VE6EEI here ;-)
People who complain about the price for L Glass, have
never decked out a complete HF stations with all the
Trimmings. The few dollars that I've spend on Camera
equipment pales in comparison to the cost of my radio
equipment. I haven't been doing it quite as long as you.
Only been licensed for the past 16 years, but sold and
serviced the amateur radio stuff for 10 years before I
bothered to get a call sign.
Also have to add in Computer Junky and travel fanatic
to the list of other hobbies.

I have no issues with that, I just do not understand why you had to punch me in the eye. I had almost $200 and change !!...
Hobbies, let's see:
- Video Gaming, though it is dying as I spend all my free time with family and Cameras (in that order).
- Movies, is something I have enjoyed since I was a tiny little tyke.
- Tweaking, of sorts, whether it be electronics, or mechanical, I am always trying to fix something around me.
- Lately, I have been enjoying counting Ceiling fan revolutions (rpm). You'd be impressed on how many times those wooden propellers go around in one single minute over your head, while you so innocently sleep.

Before I started working all these jobs (4 total), I actually had time for hobbies. Photography really isn't a hobby, since I don't shoot for pleasure anymore. When I had spare time, I enjoyed sewing both apparel and home dec items, running, reading books about history, medicine, and religion, and researching my ancestry. Now all I do is take pictures, process them, and upload them to my website for sale. Oh, and I do manage to stay in touch with people via Yahoo and MSN IM.

My brother has thousands of vinyl records, including a huge collection those thick 78's for his hand-cranked Victrola.
As for me:
Hiking and camping
Exploring ghost towns and cemeteries
Driving all over California, Nevada and Arizona
Coin collecting (though not as much now as when I was young)
Reading
Spending way too much time in web-based forums

I've collected custom made knives for the last 18 years and that actually led me to my Canon and this forum, thanks Gary Graley. Photography is really only a hobby and falls behind hiking, 4 Wheelin' and knife collecting in order of preference.

Sure Win, blame me, ;)
My other, actually first passion, is also knives since before I was in school
the doctors said I was iron deficent so that must be the reason for my need for
sharp edged things?
Here is a Tony Bose desk knife, the knife isn't mine, but I made the sheath it
rests in while decorating this person's desk, it's not for belt carry, but to make it
a bit safer as he rummages about his desk :)

If you can find an antique store, look through there. There are several places like that around Ventura and Santa Barbara where my brother lives, and most of them have some of the old discs. They usually don't cost very much, either.

I do computers and photography (programming and photographing). Oddly enough that should qualify me as somebody liable to make money from setting up porno websites but morals being more important I'm happy to do landscapes and programming. I'm not that interested in firearms but can see that I'll have to get one for self-defence judging by the oddbods I see around.

My wife complains that I have too many...when I'm not working at my "real" job, playing Navy on the weekends (Reserves), or shooting a wedding or a portrait sitting, I like to shoot landscapes and nature. I also spend alot of time on the golf course (actually worked my handicap down to 5 once), boating (live close to Lake Michigan which also gives great sunsets), woodworking (like to build furniture), and most any outside recreation there is. Just sold the motorcycle 'cause I didn't have too much time to enjoy it. Thinking about selling the snowmobile but am not sure. And my wife is insisting that I sell the powered parachute! My boy is just over 2 yrs old so I'm running out of any free time to do all of the things that I used to do before. I think I spend 1 w/e at home this past summer - gotta make it up to the family!

Hmmmmm ;-) Well, I get enjoyment out of both, so it's money well spent.
