Problem with the Date/Time (S2 IS) model.

I have purchased "S2 IS" few months ago, and until now I don't know how to present the Date/Time in the picture. I have notice from the Canon's website that you can present the Date/Time while printing picture, but I don't want to print pictures. I want to see it in the picture file in my computer. So, am I missing something in the manuals – Can I include the Date/Time in the picture file?

Please any advice about this matter?

If you use the ZoomBrowser software that came with the camera, in the preview mode, under shooting information, it is listed as the third item. Or are you looking for the time and date to appear on the preview itself?

I am talking about... when i download the pictures from the camera to my computer, there is no date or time on the pictures. i just want to know when i took these picture at what date and time. that's all... :S so please any help?

If you are using a PC open an explorer window (usually double click on My Documents on the desktop), find the folder where the photo is (probably some folder inside My Pictures which is in My Documents). With Windows XP you can usually select a 'filmstrip' view, you will now have your photos in a row along the bottom and whichever photo you select will be in large preview above. On the left hand side you will have four groups of items (from the top) Picture Tasks, File and folder Tasks, Other Places and Details. You might need to click on a small round button to the right or the word details but below that you will have the name of the file, the size of the file in pixels, the size in MB and the date and time modified (when you took the photo).

The other way is to right click on the file and select properties. You will get a dialog with three tabs (property sheets). General gives file info like size date and time. Security you can ignore but Summary, in Advanced Mode gives all the EXIF data about your camera settings when you took the photo.

I don't know if you're using an English language Windows but everything will be in the order I describe regardless of the language.

However, I know about this…but I want the date and time to be stamped on the picture. I don't want to go all along the way to see the date and time (by going to properties), i want the date/time to be sticked on the pictures.

And again sorry for my bad English. I just don't know what the right word to express my problem exactly, so please still i need your help guys :(

i think it's a big misunderstanding... he doesn't want to see where he could find the date and time in the EXIF, what he wants is to have the date and time ON the picture.... Something like this (done with PP):

You can only add the date/time to a photo when in postcard mode, see the sizes option in the menu of the camera. Only in postcard size you can add the date on the photo when shooting. The date and time then gets added to the photo and stays there.

I have an S2 and there is no postcard mode. As near as I know there is no way you can imprint date and time on the photo at the time you take it. If there were, it should show in the menu where you set time and date and there is nothing like that as an option. The only way you can get that info is by viewing the Properties of the photo.

Thats odd cause most powershot camera's nowadays have that option of postcard mode. So ok so the S2 is an older model, but I thought it had postcard option too.

S2 DOES have postcard date imprint mode, just look good enough in the menu of the camera..! Several sites I have visited state that it really does have that option. What teh other poster says that it does not have that option is strange since even the older model I had, the A400 had that option of postcard mode and it was released I think at the same time approx as the S2 IS , and it does have that option according to various websites. Just read the manual.

Its not THAT old. Just a year old. I seriously doubt if the current S3 has postcard mode either and its the latest in the S series. Previously, I had an HP M407 and it did have the date/time imprint. Different strokes for different folks.:)

I just checked my manual thoroughly and the time/date imprint applies only for printing hard copies using Zoom Browser. That's probably what they read and misinterpreted it.

Maybe only the A models have that mode, thats the only thing I can come up with. My latest A420 has it too.

My S2IS manual shows the postcard size at M2 (1600X1200) on Page 38 of the manual.
Page 24 states that the date and time do not display on a photo but can me added when printed.

Actually, I don't miss it. As I mentioned I had it on other cameras and I think it looks ugly and you can't remove it afterwards except by careful editing. Now, on a cam corder, thats another story. I turned date and time on at very beginning each time and then off and now, 20 or more years later on some, it really helps the old memory as to when I took it. Stills always have it in their Properties, so that's good enough for me. Another feature of Canon S2 and I'm sure lots of cameras, is if you want extra info stored with the photo, you can just preview it and then press the mike button and tell what you want about it and then listen to it later.

Vocal notes is a possibility, but you might forget you added one when you view it on the computer, I dont know if you can hear it on the computer when watching your photos, never used it. It might look ugly, but sometimes its handy too. Not all photos look good with the date stamped on the right corner. And you cant even read it on your LCD screen, the letters are too small, but you can always use the DISP button to see when a photo was taken too.

Ik know how it works in camera with sound files, but I never tried it with zoombrowser since I never attach sound to my photos.
Yes the good old days when you had to have a pen ready to write notes....

Use the supplied cdrom with your camera, zoombrowser software can make date and time on your photo.
