could we get a sticky with the system requirements, please?
i know there's been a message or two about changing one thing to another (can't remember it right now) so that mysql versions less than 4.0 (IIRC) will work properly...
what is really needed is a sticky that is easy to find with the minimum system requirements as well as an install that can choose the proper "verb" as described above...
as an example, i'm currently running the following
mysql 3.23.58
php 4.3.10
apache 1.3.37 (OS/2)
at this time, the mysql server is a windows (98se) box... it has been a linux (mandrake 7.2) box as well as an os/2 (warp 3) box... the reason(s) have been to maintain compatibility... but i'm to the point that if i can locate something that works and doesn't "freeze" a station during processing and it can connect with and read data from an older system, then i'll take a close look at it...
as an example, when moving from a linux server to the os/2 server, the datafiles are the same structure so simply copying them over was the answer... however, copying those same files to a windows box had problems... the only real option (other than a backup and restore) was a server to server connection and transfer... this is not very likely to be available on hosted servers...
