I plan to buy fiflters for 17-70 with 300D. should i buy slim version to avoid the vingetting? Heard it is not necessary for dSLR.

Only if you ever plan on using that lens on a full-frame body (like the 1Ds) or a film body. The 1.6 crop factor eliminates any chance of vignetting.

I use a Hoya Circ pol. (non thin version) on a Sigma 17-35 at 17mm with no problems.

In fact, I often have the circ pol and a cokin 3 slot P series adaptor holder and a filter fitted with no vignetting.

However, that setup does vignette on a film body, but not as much as you would think.

Cheers

I tried the thin and regular CPL at B+H before I bought the regular one for my 10D. Nuff said.

One thing to think about: how long before you'll be using your 17-40 on a full-frame DSLR? In other words, will we need to purchase new filters in 2 to 4 years as full-frame DSLRs become common place?

I know this is silly question but anyone tried stacking a UV + CPL before?
Will you get vignetting?
