I have a friend with a new Drebel that has been trying to load PSE2 onto his XP PC. The installation goes fine until the language files try to load. These files never get downloaded, even though the computer says it is downloading the files. The attempted download goes on for hours until it is finally manually stopped. Basically the installation never ends. When we try to run PSE2, the error that comes back states that the program was not successfully installed.

We have tried turning off all virus detection software and have loaded Adobe Acrobat V6.0 (min. required), but the language files still will not install properly.

Any ideas? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

I use PSE 2 and XP without a problem(knock wood!). The only things I can suggest are:
1. If you have a previous version of PSE installed, remove it before installing PSE2.
2. Close all programs running in the windows task bar that aren't needed to keep the computer going.
3. If #2 doesn't work, try running msconfig, go into startup and uncheck everything and reboot. You can put everything back after you've installed the program. But before I did this I would try to get a hold of another CD with the program and retry installing it.
Good Luck,
Scott

I also have no problem running PSE2 on Windows XP Home Edition. PSE2 came with my 10D. Does it come with the DRebel too?

Make sure you don't have any other applications running; especially, temporarily disable your virus scanner. Also make sure you don't have any active viruses on your system, they can also prevent applications from installing properly.

Yes, PSE2 came with my DRebel kit. I had no problems loading it into XP Home Edition.
