:D There was a thread here most recently by RichardtheSane regarding how much equipment you take on a shooting session. My remarks said I take it all because I have an SUV. I carry multiple bags, a laptop, tripods, cameras and a large lens suitcase.

Equipment can be at risk when we leave it in a vehicle and proceed up a trail or down to the beach or whatever for a shoot. So I thought I would share with you what I use for security for things like the laptop, extra camera bodies, bags and backpacks while I am using limited equipment away from the ‘parking lot’.

I use a series of PacSafe stainless steel, lockable security bags designed to hold backpacks. I don’t use their padlocks because they are so small, I purchased a handful of Master Padlocks keyed the same use these.

The bags (PacSafe) allow me to walk away and not worry about anyone breaking a window and grabbing equipment. The bags cannot be cut with standard wire cutters or bolt cutters. They will make a quick grab impossible.

I use the size large unit to secure the Canon 400MM F2.8 L in the Canon suitcase and strap it to the underpinnings of the vehicle seat brackets. Impossible to remove without major work.

Their web site is www.pac-safe.com worth a visit for anyone interested in security.

I too use a PacSafe to store my camera bag when it is in my car or in some hotel rooms. I lock it to the seat tracks, a table, etc.
It won't stop a serious crook but it will present enough of a problem so they will probably look for an easier target.
