any news for canon new dslr?

No. Many people are asking that question. Canon announces their products at the moment they are released, unlike other manufacturers such as Sony who announced the F828 already in August and Nikon who have already announced the D70, which comes in a few months.

There's going to be a big photography show (PMA) in February, where many of the big manufacturers will display new products. Many people believe that Canon will come up with a replacement for the 1D, but it's all pure speculation.

Just be patient until that time.... :?

Actually ,. look for Canon to announce it's next DSLR at PMA this Feb 12-14.

It then won't be available till March or later.

While still "speculative" its interesting that B&H no longer has the 1D listed on its DSLR page:

Might also be noted that www.buydig.com does not list the 10D any longer. There website is linked to their in-stock items and database, so they are out of 10D's. What does this mean? Probably nothing, but it is fun to speculate.

Interesting...B&H is accepting PRE-ORDERS for the 10D: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=277768&is=REG

It is not inconceivable that both cameras will be replaced.

Sure, the 10D is "only" a year old. But at one year, it will match the production run of both the D60 and D30.

It is possible that a "new 10D" with a EF-S mount will be released at an intermediate 10D/300D price. It is possible that the "new 1D" would be significantly cheaper than the current 1D.

Well, of course this is how it will work. Afterall, I just bought my 10D!

Same thing happened to my when I bought my D60. Waited months for it and the 10D came out 5 months after for a lot less. But...... Life goes on.

The 1D is well due for replacement and an improved 10D is needed -to get rid of the bugs at least.

Make no mistake-there WILL be something replacing the current 10D!
There is just too much evidence to deny

Evidence?

The only evidence I have seen is some people being out of stock, and the fact that the camera is a year old.

Bugs? aside from the focus issue . . .what are you talking about?

I have to agree with Jim...what "evidence?" All retailers are out of stock...myself included, not a big surprise at this time of year...while I wouldn't be surprised if a 10D replacement was looming, I just don't think now is when it'll be...though we had no indicationthe DReb was coming that soon either.

:)
It was not too long ago that I seem to remeber B&H taking "pre-orders" on D60's after they had sold the heck out of them. That sent me packing to another shop to buy one. In a few weeks after that, viola !, Canon announced the rolling out of the 10D.

Canon announcing they were going to unroll 20 new digital models in 2004 should pretty much tell you, they will be replacing everything.

I just recieved a whole box of Canon propaganda (brochures)on the 10D...and I didn't order them...I'd like at this point to officially change my vote to...something is coming...why do I say that? Because we always get the important sales literature just before it's obsolete. Now, we just wait and see.

OT: Lansdale: I am in that area a fair bit. Where is your shop?

Yes, the timing of the dRebel was a bit of a surprise.

Replacing the 10D at PMA would not be surprise timing wise, but with a 1D replacement looming I think it would be a bit of a surprise if the 10D is replaced. That would be simulataneous introduction of two major dslr models. Nikon has not yet replaced the D100.

The only reason we are talking about 10D replacement is because B&H status as pre-order
the camera is one year old
Stone got brochures.
Market wise, the 10D is still considered top notch in its category. The only place to go (realistically) is to lower the price. I suppose an EF-S mount with a lower price would be the most we could expect. Remember that the main improvements of the 10D over the D60 were price 7pt AF system Improved body.

I just cannot see a 1.6FOV camera with the 45pt AF system (though I would like it).

I just cannot see two dSLRs being released with differentsensors. If the new 10D has a new sensor, then it may well have the same sensor as the new 1D. (full frame 8mp?). Then there would be several key distinguishing features between 10D and 1D models $1200 45pt AF system FPS speed (3 vs very high)

I would like to add my two pennies, I ordered a 10d last week and was informed on Friday that my order would not be fullfilled as Canon had discontinued the model. I was offered the 300d instead. I live in New Zealand, my dealer informed me that this is what happened when the D60 was replaced.

Will they really do BOTH at PMA???

Or is the Rebel the "new 10D" with no other replacement,. just discontinued,. and of course,. the new 1D intro at PME ging us only three Canon DSLRs in production
1. Drebel
2. 1Ds
3. 1D fill in the black and 10D goes bye bye ???

Say it ain't so! :(

I don’t think there’s any question about Canon’s commitment to that niche in the digital market. The 10D has been wildly successful, and I doubt the drebel has had any significant impact on 10D sales. I can’t say for sure the 10D isn’t going to be replaced, but if so, it will be something that falls squarely between the drebel and whatever they replace the 1D with.

Just think, though. If they really do discontinue the 10D without a direct replacement, they’ll be worth more than what we all paid for them new.

Even if the 1D replacement is under $2K?

I re-read Nostradamus again last night, and he doesn't think that's going to happen.

On the other hand, he says that if it does, he wants one.

Why all this concern about what will replace what. If the present items (10D/1D) do the job and they aint broke then don't fix them, as the old adage states. I'm perfectly happy with my 10D and will not change it even if Canon bring out some super duper, all bells and whistles, models in the next few months. Because even these will be obsolete before the end of the year.
Personally what I would like to see is even cheaper separate ink color cartridges from all the manufacturers for even their basic models, that's a more important idea of a replacement for me as this will certainly help to keep printing prices down.

I agree with Geoff here. Even if the 10D is withdrawn mine will still work; it uses standard CF cards and uses standard EOS lenses. I would be much more worried about the withdrawal of equipment which would be unusable without specific support.

To All,

My guess, as I posted in another thread, is that the 1D series will come out with a 20 Mega Pixel sensor. Take a look at this web-page:

Ditto, here. I'm sure Canon will bring out a Canon 20D w/ battery grip built in as one body with double the battery life and more features, like expanded ISO's. It'll also be hundreds less, possibly the same price as the current Digital Rebel
