I though that many of you are such great artists with a camera that you should look into one of their contests. Easy way to get some recognition for your work too. If they use it.

Landscapes, wild life, and portraits that tell a cultural story are what they normaly use. Im sure any exceptional photo would do though. I see many people here with pictures that should be in there if they ever do a story on what it was you photographed.

Great, as if we all carry around releases with us all the time when we have a camera in our hand on holidays! This naturally tilts the favor toward those who routinely shoot for publication.

Please provide only the original, unmodified digital camera image

So you can't do any post-processing work or does this just mean that they don't want collages and such?

I am sure they know what they can get from picture in PS, they just want to see how you are able to shoot :-)

I thought NG has a "unmodified" image rule. Meaning, only basic adjustments such as contrast, saturation, white balance. I don't know that they even want to change the exposure on RAW files.

Watching that video on the canon site of the guy shooting football, he packs up the CF cards and mails them straight to the magazine.. I wonder if all magazines are like this? I'm sure they have their own staff image editors that do what ever post processing is required... maybe?

actually, i had one of my photos published in the "Your Shot" feature in the October issue... ;) just submit a good photo that ties in with the theme they've chosen for that month. you can submit photos every month if you want. hint... the photo editor, Susan Welchman, likes unique images. if you want to increase your odds, shoot something different, or from a different perspective, that fits the theme. don't take a tourist snapshot of your last trip to Yellowstone or wherever and send it in; she gets thousands of submissions a month, so do something to set your photo apart...
