I'm starting up a business in which I will produce fine art portraits and I am debating on whether to use a lab or purchase my own printer for print production. I'm looking into producing giclee prints. I'd like some recommendations from the community on which printers have worked well in the past for these types of prints. Or, has a lab worked better for you? I’m also looking into different finishing techniques to increase the value of my prints. Suggestions are appreciated.

What kind of equipmet budget do you have?
And, what kind of pricing scheme can your market bear?

I'm still doing market research in regards to what pricing structure the market can bear. However, the majority of photographers in my area focus mainly on weddings with a little seniors, family mixed in. I'd like to stay under 1K for a printer if I can.

as important as the printer, so should be the paper you use.
you should try davinci fibre gloss, its spectacular, it emmulates the quality of bromide prints.
