Hi,
My A70 had been stolen 2 days ago in my house! I need my digicam to do my assignment! I plan to get the new A80 or may be get back the old A70 cause I still have my CF card and 3 sets of GP rechargables with me! Anyone have any idea on which camera should i get? I've been using my A70 for 10 month and I think there's some minor problems on the camera1 Is there any problem with A80? OR is there any possibilities CANON will come up with new models in these 2 months?
Thanks

IMHO you should go for the A80 (out of the two). I have both + an A20. Both the 20 and the 70 have developed problems, so far the 80 is okay. If the 70 had developed problems before I bought the 80 though I might have looked further afield. Having said that, of the two, the 80 is much more of a pleasure to use and yields great results. The larger CCD gives clearer pictures than the 70. The noise at ISO 2 & 400 is really not a problem so low light non-flash pics are truly useable. The fact the LCD swivels is a big big plus to me. It makes taking those awkward pics easy. The two saved setting modes are great too as you can predifine settings for later use at the turn of the dial. in fact I wish I had waited for the 80, but my 20 went too wrong too soon!
I'm sure everyone, CANON included, will be bringing out new camera's before long. (See my a90 wish list thread!)

You got it! I would be suprised a quarter year went by without a new digital camera released by Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fuji, Sony, Minolta or ...

Bummer about your A70.. :(
I looked at the A80 very closely and If I didn't have a 10D,. I think I would own an A80... a very nice camera.

Take a look at my thread on talk about photography and it may answer your question as to if Canon is going to release new cameras

That being said I wouldn't wait to long, seeing as how I assume you don't have a camera to use now. It could be months before any cameras are released.
