little to dark I no.
the only thing now with moving the ISO up the picture looks more
grainy. But still better than the blur I was getting.

That is one beautiful birrd. I love to see them in the pet shop. I love the song birds too! One colleague at work had a parrot I seem to recall that it had the run of his house.
HOWIE
PS: Don't forget Gail that the blurr in your earlier shot of your grand daughter was caused by her movement during the 1+ seconds that the lens was collecting light required through the A = 4.5 lens opening. If that shot (red hat) had been taken from the other side, toplight from the semi-circular window may have been enough to allow for a faster shutter speed -- although the hat would shade the face (fill-in flash!).
So too with your parrot, more side light from a"closed" window should allow you to reduce the ISO.
Just guessing Gail. Just guessing!

Thanks Howie, Yeah I love my bird he is like part of us now I've had him now 7 years. I handfed him from baby. And he is one spoiled BIRD! Believe me LOL. He hates everyone but me he will try and eat them up.
Yes, I'm so happy to find out it wasn't me after all with the camera lol. I no I was trying my hardest. Like on a sunny day what setting would I use if I took my granddaughter out and shot them in yard?
And would I drop the ISO back down to like 100 are so...so the pictures what look so grainy? Thanks for all your help...Hugs Gail,

Hi Gail,
Lovely parrot... if you don't mind a little intervention on his behalf, here's an enhanced version of Photo 1...
http://www.kleptography.com/dl/fm/birdbj1c.jpg
I use Photoshop, so I began by Auto-Contrasting, but if you're not using Photoshop, there are other ways...
Try Auto-Leveling in whatever program you use and see if you like it (I tried in Photoshop and it was terrible).
If that doesn't work, try this...
1. Manually set the black point to one of the lighter spots on the dark background (this will set black even deeper than that the parrot's eyes, but that's all right).
2. In your Levels dialog box, move the white slider on the right towards the center and watch the photo lighten up.
3. Boost saturation by 5%.
4. Sharpen more (with whatever program you use).
These are just general guidelines... and they assume you like this photo... if you don't, then just ignore me. :)
Cheers,
Don

Hi Gail,
Sorry to nick your post, but I thought I'd post a picture of my parrot too for you to see!
Unfortunately, 'Bird' who was a golden mantle rosella, got sick and departed to parrot heaven, but I still have my pictures

These aren't particularly good images focus wise as they were taken with my old Olympus so no critiques please!

Oh! What a sweetie, :P Very pretty bird and colorful. I love birds hate to here about your lost! Don't no what I'll do if I lost him he's like part of the family I've had him 7 years and raise him from baby.
He's spoiled rotten, I think your pictures look really good. Better than mind I'm still learning as I just got into this digital camera thing. And love it but I've always use just the point-shoot camera.
Never got into the SLR. camera's. "And by the way you have a beautiful baby" Beautiful eyes. I would like to see close-up of baby so pretty, I love kids also.
