Whats up eveyrone. I have a question about my S400 that I bought this past summer.

How do I take night pics in which the light from cars is streaked with the foreground and background remain normal?

I'm gonna try and post this pic:

To obtain predictable results, you would need a tripod and a camera capable of manual control. The S400 doesn't give you this kind of control. However, if you were to place the camera on a tripod and shoot a night scene, the camera may very well use a longer shutter speed, but the intensity and placement of lights in the scene can alter your results.

The Ixus 400 has a long shutter speed mode intended for exactly these kind of shots. Shutter speeds from 1 to 15 secs can be set manually, it's all in the user guide.

And yes, definitely use a tripod :wink:

I suppose that's what I get for looking at the specs on the website and seeing just Program AE and believing it.
