Hi,

I spent a wonderful week in Pembrokeshire in Wales over the festive period and took a whole bunch of photo's with my 300D. I was interested in what you thought of these two.

This one has had a small amount of work on the sky. Just made a duplicate layer of the sky and multiplied it in, and a very small increase in saturation.

This one has had a couple of footprints removed from the sand but nothing more.

Loking forward to your comments.

Thanks,
/Phil.

Nice coastline, I know it a little myself

Your colours are fantastic though for me the foreground of the first picture is too dark

Pluses and minuses (my humble opinion only, please take as constructive criticism)

Picture#1

- Foreground too dark. In your case, if you have a tripod, make two exposures: the first exactly how you have it now, the second, make the foreground lighter (consequently the sky will blow out). Then merge the two images in Photoshop to get a balanced final image.

- Personally I would include less of the foreground (just enough to show context), and make the background (the hills or mountains or whatever, and the sky) the subject.

+ The sky is exposed beautifully.

Picture#2

+ Nice composition (foreground rocks + sand + surf + background land)

- Lens flare deteroriates your foreground rocks

Now if there was a child in colorful garb running with glee towards the water (or other human element) on the bottom right hand of the picture, this would be a super shot.

Cheers,
E. Martin

Nice shots, it would be interesting to see the original of the second one, before the footprints were taken out. Do you have a copy?
I think the footprints might add a bit to the picture

E.Martin....Thanks for that. I shall have another bash at them tonight taking your comments into account. All comments are gratefully received.

KO_300D.....I'll also try to include the foot prints in the 2nd picture.

Hi,

OK, so here's the first picture again with a little cropping and lightening of the foreground.

and here's the 2nd one with footprints still in it....

Sorry E.Martin but I couldn't find a willing, child in colourful garb to run gleefully towards the sea......

Thanks,
/Phil.

Good. Glad you like it. I should have spent more time on it the first time really.

Thanks again,
/Phil.

Phil,

They are both very nice. I too like the footprints.

What lens were these taken with?

Ovi,

they're both taken with the 300D kit 18-55 lens.
