It was my cousins baptism I was able to grab some pics afterward as well as at the house. None of the pics were posed for me. I took what I could get without telling them what to do since at the church there wasn't much time. At the house I took pics of the kids while they were playing. One of the kids kept running from me, he thought it was a game to hide from the camera, yet I happen to snap a shot of him through a glass door. What do you guys think? I know they are far from perfect but do you have any suggestions?

They look good. What lens did you use?

The only one I have right now. The 18mm-55mm that it came with. I'm saving up for a better lens, but I don't know what I want yet.

The important thing is to take the shot. The quality of the photos will improve with time and practice. The young lady in the picture looks to be about 8 years old and was in the light. Her parents were in the shadow of the tree so the lighting was very challenging. Also, the camera appears to have focused on the tree limb behind Dad's right shoulder. So I tried to lighten the parents a little but it over exposed the young lady. Then I used Focus Magic to try and sharpen the three subjects of the photo. I have the same problem with focusing with my new S2IS. Again, take the shot!! The more you shoot the better you will get and the more people you will have pleased with memories of very special events in thier lives.

Yes the girl is 8 and was very much in the sunlight while her parents were in the shadow of the tree. I found this very annoying but like I said I didn't get to control where the pics were taken if I did I wouldn't have let that happen. It was really bad but I photoshoped some of it and made it look better but you can't fix something that extreme

If you like taking portraits, I would go with 50mm 1.4 or 50mm 1.8 (which is under $100)
Good luck and have fun with the camera.

Thanks I like the ps. So I'm pretty new to all of this, how did you do that? I can very simple things in ps like the girl had a sore my her mouth and I got rid of that and lightened up her teeth but I don't know what you did to make them all seem in the same light.
