This is probably a stupid question. But i was think with shooting a lot of drag racing i often have to change lens every now and then with all the rubber in the atmosphere if it gets stuck to the sensor ill be needing a new sensor. Is there anything like a thin sheet of clear pespect that i can put between the lense and the sensor to give it some protection
told you it was a stupid question

no, there isn't. bag the lens/camera when shooting and change lenses in your vehicle or a big garbage bag or something. And if there was such a thing, it would either be insanely expensive or it would degrade image quality to the point of being unusable.

The best solution would be an additional body. Carry two bodies with the different lenses you might need. Switching is a lot faster and you never have to open up the camera to the environment.
When shooting Grand Prix (Formula 1) racing back in the 1960's, I used to carry three cameras around my neck. I used to carry two when shooting drag racing in the late 1960's and early 1970's.

There already is a glass filter over the sensor, so it would be that you would need to replace anyway, not the actual sensor itself. Adding another one to protect it isn't practical or necessary. The current filter slightly softens the image, hence the need for sharpening either in camera or PP. A second one would soften images to the point that IQ would suffer I think.
I also shoot at the 'Pod and use the two body approach. I carry a 20D with 10-22mm and 5D with 28-135mm when walking around the paddock, then change to 20D with the 28-135mm and 5D with 100-400 L IS to shoot the racing.

didnt know they had a glass protector over the sensor. Im at the pod for all the big events just looks out for a black modernpics t shirt. I wouldnt use it enough to justify buying another body yet.

It isn't actually there as a protector, it's an anti-alias filter to prevent moire patterns etc. When you clean the 'sensor', you are actually cleaning the glass filter and not touching the sensor itself.
I agree, buying a second body just for this is hard to justify. I have three bodies with my 35mm gear (and loads of lenses) but bodies were cheaper then of course. I did miss not being able to fit different lenses to bodies, and not have to keep swapping, but did nothing about it until the 5D came out, I wanted to upgrade anyway so I kept the 20D as a backup and second body.
If I see you at Flame and Thunder, I'll say 'Hi' :)

Unless you were taking pics at the starting line, and changing lenses during a burnout, I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, as the other posters mentioned, there already is a protector over your sensor.

just bag it when you change it like stated above to avoid meltied rubber particles from getting into your camera.
