Birds on Beach - feedback please

Looking for feedback on this pic. This was taken at North Myrtle Beach with a 30d at 18mm, 200 ISO, 300/f11. I made minor adjustments in contrast to enhance the clouds and darken the birds a little.

I like it, in spite of the harsh sun angle and blown out clouds. You must have been down on your belly. I would crop it a bit, cut out that lonely bird on the left and some of the foreground to move your horizon to the bottom third. The composition of the gulls is very appealing, IMHO, as is the surf.

I like the unusual perspective. Looks good in my view. The image may have a touch of softnes and maybe over contrasted a bit though.

I like the shot, it is difficult to shot into the sun. Your down low angle really makes the shot special.
