Saw some signs while out today for a 1940's railway/military weekend so had to stop off. Photos taken with my 300D and sigma 24-70, I would have killed to have my 30D+70-200 back from repair for this.

Just tried some quick edits to try and get the feel of the period, wondering if it works.............

Wonderful photos. Wish I would have been there to take pictures also. You also did a good job with the last two.

The second one has a great time contrast with the cell phone in his hand!

Very nice captures of a fun event. The 300D (and you) are doing a pretty good job.

3, 4, and 5 have a quality about them that really reminds me of photos I have seen in National Geographic magazines of the period. It's a color tone that seems like it was printed off old ASA 10 (ISO 10 to you young folks) Kodachrome. However, cloning out the modern elements would be a good idea - plastic cups and containers for instance. 6 & 7 are great. Again have that something that makes me think of my grand parents' old National Geographic magazines from the WWII era, but it is a completely different feel than the others. I would be hard pressed to tell if the last one was modern or from the '40s.

Love them. But the plastic Coca Cola bottle in the last image gives away that it's not really the 40's ;)
