If you meen the hot shoe remote for the strobe, I got one of ebay for cheap and am still using it.

How do you go about pressing the shutter button half way down to focus with a remote

Alien Bees is now selling RF remote. I'll have mine later this week or first part of next week. I would expect the quality to be better than the ebay stuff. They run $39.95 each.

I thought you meant to fire the strobes. The one that goes on the hot shoe. I use the canon one on my xt and am screwed on my 30d
