I received the big Manfrotto head,. it is monstrous huge,. looks as if it would handle a Browning M@ .50 cal heavy machine gun.
It is more than capable of handling the largest 600mm f/4 lenses.
And as such,. it is a little big for our much lighter 500mm f/4.5
Seeing as it is 1/3rd the cost of the Wimberly or King Cobra,. and it is a magnificent peice fo equiment,. I can still highly recomend it...
BUT!
I did remeber that you own an Acra tech... and another option (though a little more costly) is the Wimberly "sideKick" which is in essence,. part of the wimberly mount that will use your existing Ball Head for the other half of the package.
I personally don't own a suitable head to attach it to,. so for me it wasn't an appealing option,. but if you have not looked at it you might want to. It will be FAR more portable than the massive Manfrotto.
