the first one is a linnet
the second one a pipit of some sort
the third is a dunnock (hedge sparrow)

Yep, I'd go along with those, Damian - male linnet, meadow pipit and dunnock.

1. Can't remember the lens, think it was my old 400 f/5.6 with a 1.4x fitted.
2. 30D with 100-400L @ f/5.6
3. 30D with 100-400L @ f/5.6
I'm really amazed at how sharp my 100-400 is at 400mm wide open as I've read that it can be quite soft at that length?

Thanks Paul - I figured that the linnet might have been a while ago, because that bonny breeding plumage is long gone.
