This is a fun technique I have been experimenting with. This is the best of the shots I have done so far. The telescope belongs to a local astronomy club. I had help with the flashlights. The tripod was painted with a RED LED light and the scope was painted with a white LED light. Take note of the visible starfield in the background The trees are more than 100 yards off, so the light fell off great...

This is very imaginative and very, very beautiful.
You might (just a hunch) try to play with the brightness and contrast of the starfield to see whther even more can be done to set it out from the trees & telescope while retaining an overal night feel.
That siad this is good enough for me. Just a beauty. Punch holes in the stars, put the rest on transparent film, and fall to sleep under a stary sky.
