I am completely frustrated with Photoshop Actions. I want to take about 500 pics and automate a simple resolution change from to 300 dpi and sharpen. After 2 days of creating an batch action that would save automatally, I ran the action for 24 hours. All pics ran perfectly, and when I checked, they all showed modified, but the resolution wasn't changed. I played around and created a new action. It won't save without me hitting ok, but the resolution works.
Help!

Did you check the Override Action "Save As" Commands in the Save dialog when you run the action?

No - I am saving over the file. I did try checking it and the same thing happens - I still have to manually hit ok from jpg options to save.

Did you record a "Save As" step or "Save"?

I'm going to be hitting the sack very soon. How about sending me the action and I'll take a look at it in the morning?

Just a save and close step. Ok, got it to automatically save, but it's not doing anything with the resolution. Photoshop shows the actions running, but I don't think that the pictures look changed. In fact, Bridge isn't showing the image has been modified.

Did you open it back up in Photoshop and check the resolution?

Do you use a Mac. There are some cool Automator actions for CS2 called Photoshop Action Pack 3.0
I made one where i just drag multiple files on a droplet and they resize to 800px and sharpen them and rename them sequentially. I don't need to hit save or anything, after dropping them on the droplet it's done.
I use it to resize for this forum.

Have you tried the image processor from Bridge. It is Tools-Photoshop-Image Processor. In essence it creates the batch run for you. I have used it many times but not to its fullest extent.
There is an area there where you can open one image and apply the changes to it and then it will do the same to the rest. Again, I haven't used this. I have always created a short action and ran the action from within the image processor. In your case, I would create an action that changes your DPI and sharpens (you really want to sharpen 500 shots exactly the same?). I would then have the image processor save new files in a new location which it can do. If you want to get rid of one or the other after you can.
I would start with a folder of just a few images and then try it on them. You will have to open up one of the images afterwards to see if the resolution has changed. If you are moving your resolution up your file size should grow.

I was using SFW to save the images - the regular save didn't work. I learned that SFW automatically saves at 72dpi. Grrrrr. Trying again tonight without adding save to the action.
