In the gallery section I have seen some great B&W pictures that is taken by Infrared(?)

Can anyone tell me if my A70 can take these type of pics and how I do it?

Of course.. you only need a lens adapter (Canon LA-DC52C or 3rd party) and a 52mm Infra Red Filter, I recommend one from Hoya.. total will cost you around $40..

Share me your pic when you get them..

good question ben...

i just got an A80, found these forums, and am now excited at photographic possibilities... furthermore, i was captivated by the IR shots.

i bought my camera, and in store as well as in the manual, it seemed to me that the only add-on options i had for this camera were the conversion lens, the teleconverter, macro and wide lens... as well as a case for underwater shooting...

now i find that you can use a filter and can use 3rd party add-ons?

WHOA!?!

where do i begin? i'm sure canon doesnt condone such stuff in these forums... but i'm going to have to try to find info on what i can really use with this A80. thx for opening my eyes... links would be great.

There're so many filter that you can attach to your A80.. like UV, IR, ND etc. just check http://www.hoyaoptics.com/ (i'm not affiliated with them) or maybe http://www.bauser.com/lens-filters/

make sure you buy 52mm filters for your A80/A70/A60.. then do yourself some experiment.. lens filters are relatively cheap..

You dont need a filter even. Just PS7 (CS cant do it :()

Open the image, desaturate it and select channel mixer, check monochrome mess with the sliders keeping red the highest and bingo IR shot.

I cant get it to work right with CS though :(

That would result in a black and white photo as if it were shot through a deep red filter. This will result in a dramatic shot (as the red filters do) but it will be far away from an actual infrared shot which blocks most if not all of the visable red spectrum (depending on the filter and sensor) to allow the infrared spectrum to become pronounced.

Good black and white filters are green, yellow, red, and blue, the effects of these can all be 'created' by playing in a graphics editor. UV pass filters and IR pass filters effects can't be 'created' since there is no channel dedicated to them.
