I don't know about the s40, but I've used a slave flash with my A70. It took a little trial and error to get the exposure right, but it worked.

How did you do that? I tried it with my slave flash and got no response. It works great with my Casio camera.

I have a S45, I use a slave flash, but you have to:

- connect your slave flash with a cell

- select manual mode (to avoid the pre-flash in the other mode)

- select 1/3 to full flash power on the S45 (to test)

Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try this once without success on the basis of a discussion of digiforum. I'll try again. I'm not very systemmatic and I might have left something out.

Sorry, I haven't checked this forum in a little while. What I have used is my Nikon SB-26 flash from my SLR. It happens to have a built in slave sensor, so I just switched it to slave, put the A70 on manual, and experimented with the aperture and flash power until I got good results. That big flash sure did the job. I completely lit up a dark room, about 14' x 20'. Any flash and an inexpensive slave sensor should do the job.

has the pre-flash interrupted the slave flash at all? i know the a-series messes with the slave flash by firing the pre-flash

thanks
