What does everyone use, if anything to protect the LCD screen on the Digital Rebel?
I was looking at the one by da' products, anyone got one or view on it.
Cheers

I don't use one. It's not like a PDA, where you are constantly at it with a stylus, so I don't think it really needs it.

I had some leftover PDA screen protectors and trimmed them down to size to fit on the top and back LCD screens. Image quality was slightly degraded but I don't use the review screen to do critical reviewing. To me, the extra protection is worth it for the piece of mind.

SOmeone mentioned that the plastic screens are cheap to replace on the 10d. I wonder if it's the same on the DRebel?

If you are in the UK Jessops sell plain film screen protectors which are PDA size but cut down will do both the top and rear screens on a 10D - i seem to remember there are three sheets in a pack for about £4 ($6).

i too have trimmed down a pda screen protector, cheap and simple. with the scratches i can see on the protector....its already got its money's worth.
you get in a packet i think about 15 strips each i cut in half then trim down so its 30 times i can stick on a new protective film....ill change it perhaps 2-3 a year at most?......thats pretty good value i think :)

I had it on my 10D and it worked great, fits perfect, high quality plastic. It lasted for 10 months but WATCHOUT....
There is a small gap between the protector and the LCD which catches dust and gunk. I didn't think it was a big deal and postponed cleaning it out because I didn't want to detach it to clean, afraid that I would need to buy another one. Well the good news is that you can detach it, clean it, and then reatach it. The bad news is that I got what appears to be a permenant mark/stain/scratch that I can't get off the LCD. It is small but annoying. I have since removed the protector and am going Rambo (using nothing). No additional scrathes and all is fine for the last three months.
The LCD on the back does not appear prone to scratches as much as the top LCD panel.
Thats my two cents.
Good luck!

I tried cutting up a PDA style screen protector, but I found with my greasy nose mashing against it, that it was getting messier more quickly (and was harder to wipe clean) than the naked screen.
I also found that the protector would show lots of small scratches that the plastic of the screen was hard enough to resist, so I havn't bothered with another one for six months now, with no problems.

I also use the PDA protector. I find it excellent. A little tedious to cut, but once you have it on there, it is good for some time. I first bought one of the hard plastic ones that you stick on with adhesive strips. I didn't like the idea of the "gap".So I didn't even use it.

I use nothing on either of my cams. Neither one has scratches either. Those protectors mush up the detail. A new LCD cover in only $10 from Canon and they just pop off. I fgure if I do ever scratch one, I'll just purchase a shiny new one.

Is that on the 10d, or the Digital Rebel?

Wow. I never even thought of this.
Thanks, y'all for this thread. Considering the beating that my little Fuji 2800z received in the ten months that I used it, an LCD protector or two is probably a wise decision for my 10D. I'll pop over to my local cam store tomorrow. I need to get a lens-cover leash anyway.
