I was just wondering how many have had CF card failures from faulty cards? I have heard some people discussing this in various threads.

Me personally, knock on wood, I have not had a single error. I have even washed, then dried a CF card in the gas dryer. Believe it or not, the images where in tact. I reformatted the card and it is still in use today.

I think the cards are retty strong and dependable.

So Far so Good for me, current inventory
Lexar 128mb x4
Simple Tech 256
Lexar 1gb x40
Sure to get another 1 gb soon
Should be a price drop since I seen a company having a 4.4 on the market soon.

I had a Dane Electric card that lost images. I finally got rid of it. I have had the best luck with Kingston cards. I've really only had one dud.

In October and November of 2002, I purchased eight 256MB CF cards (PQI). I labeled them A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. I kept A in the camera until it filled, and then I would switch to B, then to C, etc. Once I returned to the computer, I would dump them all and reformat in the camera. Then A would go back in. So, A got the most use, then B, etc., and H got very little use. After nine months, A finally gave up the ghost. It got flakey at first, and then got too unreliable altogether, so I put it on the shelf. I was given a 512MB CF card for a Christmas present, so now I have a new A card.

My two 1GB Microdrives have served me faultlessly for several years.

Funny you asked, just 2 days ago my card reader finally failed to recognize 128 Mbt Compact Flash that I bought in Sam's Club about 2 years ago. I did not loose much, but nevertheless... It was cheaper brand- SimpleTech. Serves me right for not sticking with a good brands.

Once, I had a picture on a Viking 512 MB corrupt when I was doing a JPG rotation using Breezebrowser. I lost one photo. Don't know if it was the card or Breezebrowser.

I've got a heavily used 1GB microdrive that's worked flawlessly for over 2 years now. Just bought my second.

I've got 3 IBM Microdrives for over 3 years now. Use them when I go mountain biking. For as much abuse I subject the cards to, one failed just once.

I was taking the card out of my D60 when I dropped it 6 inches on my desk. I was not able to read anything from the disk no matter what I tried. It sat for days but just when I was ready to toss it, it starts working. It hasn't failed since.
