SmartDisk Photobank help

I bought a SmartDisk Photo Bank on eBay (used) and just received it today. It was described on eBay (from a fairly reputable seller) as being 100% functional; however, I can't seem to get it to work and who knows if the seller actually put a card in the thing and tested it. It powers on and I can access it from my computer, but it won't copy any files from my Extreme III card and the hard drive icon on its LCD display has an 'X' on it with the number '01' just to the left of it. Do any of you who are familiar with Photo Banks have ANY idea what's going on with this thing, or at least know what the icon with the 'X' and '01' means? Does it need to be formatted? The User Manual that came with this thing doesn't help much. I assume there's not much to the device when it works properly. When I connect it to the laptop it shows 37.1 GB of space free. Any ideas?? It's possible that I just got a lemon, or something happened to it during shipment.

Just wanted to post my solution.... I reformatted the Photo Bank in FAT32 and now it works great!

So, in case anyone else has the same problem I did, check to make sure the Photo Bank is not formatted as NTFS. I'm not sure why mine was NTFS (does it actually come from SmartDisk in a format that is unusable?), but now it's fixed and I'm happy!! :D
