I've got that silly 18-55 lying around here (got it for free), I want to use it reversed for macro shoots. Although I opened it and then lost the 4 tiny screws (ahem..), I still would like to fix the err99.

When i got it, it showed the err99 only sometimes on my 20D, but now it does do that all the time, absolutely no way to get around it. A time ago (like a year), I *somewhere*read a post that you could fix it by cutting a certain wire, but can't find that post anymore....

Is there anyone who knows how to fix that err99 ?

(yes, i tried the battery-trick, yes i tried to clean the contacts and yes I tried everything else)

Thanx in advance,
David

would you happen to be using the battery grip with it? If so i have found that if it is not perfectly tight it can cause errors including error 99

No grip. It's the lens. I just want to have the lens fixed. I can't imagine cutting a wire will do the job, but that's what I read somewhere....somewhere on the internet. Anyone to help me out on this?
