(part 2 from this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=228032)
First two shots were from a couple of hours ago, the third from two days ago. First shot is one shot, although I was intending to make an HDR of the scene. However, when I was looking through the multiple exposures, this one looked pretty nice to me so I decided not to combine it. The second shot is a 2 exposure HDR and the third shot is 3 exposures.

Nice work! I really like the framing in #3. It's my favorite of the bunch.

Awesome JT _ in my opinion the third shot is some of your best work yet.

In the first shot, the stream leads you into a dark mystical area which I like but the third is my favorite with the creamy look of the water, ncie work JT

I think all three are some of your best...just outstanding compositions and color. Might make a nice set on the wall.

The colors are especially nice in the second while the water and composition is fantastic in the third. Great series Jim.

Really nice work. It has a simple but elegant quality to it. Great color and composition. #3 is just the best of 3 very good images.

Great colours. On #1 I find the rocks on the left corner a bit bright compared to the rest of the photos the rocks on #2 seem to be a better colour match the way the orange /red leaves on #2 jump out is great IMHO

For some reason number 2 really does it for me. I had to look up on the map to see where Sand Creek was. We have some many creeks in and around GR and I had never heard of Sand Creek. On the map it looks pretty big.

Thanks, everyone...I really appreciate the kind words and they are definitely an inspiration. I have many of you to thank for the great things I've learned on this forum since joining 10 months ago.

Fortunately I have some stopped down exposures that I can combine to take care of those rocks. :)

Three exposure HDR, 8, 15 and 30 seconds. It was actually kind of dark when I took those...at least 10 minutes after sunset, and being overcast, it made it much darker. The 8 second exposure is pretty dark.

Hey Cindi, Sand Creek seems to fluctuate between 10-20 feet wide in most places I've seen. I'm not sure if it gets any bigger than that. I wouldn't be surprised if there are several Sand Creeks in the state of Michigan, for that matter, too. Did you find it west of GR, running under Lake Michigan Dr (about halfway between GR and GVSU)?

Yes I did and if I remember right it went further north as well. I'm not real familiar with the west side of GR. We recently moved to the south end of Cedar from the north end of GR. We both still work on the north end as well.

Hi
Order of preference .. 2 3 1 with number 2 really buzzing for me.
And thanks for sharing the tech details.
I would like to shoot more streams and rivers but with the sea on the door step I mostly
stick with what's at hand.
Bye the way I admire anyone who has any mastery of HDR.

Weka, I went back and retweaked the photo and came up with this. The rocks are much like in the other photo now:

I'm not sure I've mastered it. I just put in the photos, click a couple of buttons and voila!, there she is! :-) But I DO tweak them a bit for color, saturation and levels after the HDR process.
