I'm not very creative yet, i have more the ability to see things with my eye that when frozen in place makes people go "ooo" mostly in nature, but i'd like to expand my abilities into "art" of sorts, this is the first thing i could think of shooting. Feel free to tell me it's lame, there is no shame when it comes to being critiqued by people who know more then myself.

I like the second image. I think the composition came out nice, B/W is certainly a nice touch and overall it speaks. First image however is lacking imho.

LOL.
Well, i dunno. Lacking may have been too strong a word to use as the shot is well done but there is just that small thing about it that doesnt feel right. I think that it is the large empty space on top combined with the very tight cut at the bottom gives it the wrong look. Hope that was more helpful.

The second shot is better, as the shot is more active. Perhaps more photographic clutter would make it more dramatic still. (A few 8x10s (partially visable), some negs/slides, a sample of filters scattered about, cable release...)
The first shot cuts off the base plate of the camera, but there is plenty of room above the pentaprism.... Also the name Canon is only barely visable. A little reflected light could set it off nicely.
